I found another way of doing the equivalent of Whidbey Masterpages.

From Jordao:

A simpler master pages implementation than that of GotDotNet. The big difference is that you don't change the way you code your pages, you just have to inherit from the class MasterPage. Of course, with whidbey, and the master pages templates incorporated in the IDE, this will become obsolete.... That's why I'm releasing it now.
