Feed Description: .NET and Software Development from an experienced perspective - .NET/CLR, Rotor, Interop, MC+/C++, COM+, ES, Mac OS X, Extreme Programming and More!
Okay, it's out on the news wire, so let's go! First, I want to say that the last three weeks have been the most amazing and exciting weeks of my life! Three weeks ago, I decided to give up my consulting business and join my friends John Landry (yes, that John Landry!!) and Phil Stanhope (from our work at Groove) in an executive position at Adesso Systems as the Chief .NET Architect to further our goals of the CLR on all devices from the Enterprise Server to the mobile PocketPC to the smart phone. Here is the business wire release.
It's very rarely that a product comes along that strikes me as a killer product but Adesso is one. The first time John and Phil came to see me and demoed the product, I was floored! There is way too much friction in building enterprise end-to-end applications as well as many typical LOB applications. What John and Phil showed me floored me and continues to on a daily basis. They built an application right then and there in the restaurant in less than 5 minutes and then proceeded to sync from the edge to the center where it then became available for others like me to get. Zero lines of code, less than 5 minutes and then synced to all devices from desktops to PDAs to smart phones. Data synchronization is one thing but what we do in our Adesso synchronization protocol is unique in that it allows application data and application design to be synchronized across heterogeneous database systems. Adesso Platform(TM) the first end-to-end, no-code software solution for developing, deploying and managing mobile applications for the enterprise, work groups or mobile professionals. Adesso applications and application-development products are tailored to work on Smartphone's, Pocket PCs, Tablet PCs, laptop and desktop computers without expensive and difficult customization. Available platform solutions include sales force automation, field service maintenance, and asset tracking, and can be managed either behind the firewall or as an Adesso Hosted Solution.
We have a RADD Application Designer that that resides on every Adesso client ... (even our Designer exists as an occasionally-connected application!) To build new applications, to modify those previously deployed or to customize one of our powerful application templates, you use the Designers intuitive "point and click" interface, and execute the following 5-step process...
Build the data Tables
Define the Table Relationships
Create intuitive tab-based Forms for direct data interaction
We are already 100% .NET on the servers with ASP.NET and Web Services/SOAP/GXA. We will be taking the Whidbey desktop .NET Framework SDK and the Compact Framework to have managed code from enterprise to PDAs to next generation smart phones. I am truly excited as the mobile space seems where the PC space was years ago. It is wide open opportunity and full of excitement!
Also, we at Adesso, want to be known not only as the leader in mobile computing application development, but for overall .NET expertise. In that regard, one of the things we are doing is starting up a downtown Boston INETA user group that we will host in downtown Boston for all those developers in the financial district that may not make it out to Waltham for Boston.NET at night. I will be working closely with Chris Pels and other area leaders to make this happen quickly. We want to be very active in the developer and mobole communities and engage with you.
