Seth Demsey gave us his Wrap Up Thoughts on TechEd US 2004 from "Compact Framework" Geek point of view, concluding that "we're in the middle of a swelling wave". I agree with his opinion. But generics and a bunch of the new technology improvements are not the most important improvement from my point of view. Providing .NET CF as a standalone SDK will rapidly change the world of mobile development.  I am convinced, that the avaliability of this SDK will extend the number of mobile developers using .NET CF, giving them the chance to implement their ideas. VS.NET is indeed a great product, but there are manny developers out there interesting in mobile app development and without budget for VS.NET environment. Think only about Web Matrix and great proposals from the community, which are now implemented in Whidbey. FYI: Version 2.0 of the .NET Compact Framework will ship next year with the release of VS.NET 2005.
