I picked up Vernon God Little in the bookstore at the Glasgow train station and thoroughly enjoyed it, finishing it shortly after the train got us to London. It's an interesting story about a 15-year old kid who is accused of being an accessory to a Columbine like school shooting which was carried out by his best friend. The story is told in first person, which allows Pierre to be creative with the English language, and also causes alot of comparisons to Catcher in the Rye. The story is a very dark comedy filled with satire and cynicism. (It is hard not to be dark when dealing with topics like molestation and school shootings) I really love his use of language and I found myself laughing out loud quite a few times while reading it.

The only complaint I have with the book is the last section and ending, the book wrapped up kind of fast and I was not completely happy with the ending of it.... but I still enjoyed it overall. If you enjoy Chuck Palahniuk, as I do, then you will probably enjoy this book.
