As I speculated a while ago, the Xbox 2 will not support Xbox games. Since the hardware specs are different (especially the switch from Nvidia-based graphics chip to a new ATI-based chip), support for playing Xbox games on the Xbox 2 would require some kind of emulation.
Even as late as last week, Nvidia executives were making statements that such emulation software would require monetary compensation as well ... not to mention the horsepower required to run emulation, its potential pitfalls, and overall the performance degredation that emulation usually provides. So, the moral is, don't dump your Xbox.
