So here I am in Grand Rapids, Michigan to do my Generics talk after an interesting morning. It goes something like this. I read my plane tickets and determine my flight departs Manchester NH at 11:15 AM so I get up a little late (7:30), do some email, read blogs and such. At almost 8:30 AM, I read my tickets again and to my shock, 11:15 AM is the arrival time in Detroit! My plane leaves from Manchester NH shortly at 9:15 AM. By 8:36 AM, the whole family is in the truck. Imagine this scene if you will: Sue is driving 90; I'm in the passenger seal alternating between holding onto the dashboard in sheer fear and urging Sue to go faster; Jonathan, thinking he on some amusement ride is urging “faster, faster Mommy” with glee and Heather is alternating between howls of laughter and crying. So, I get there just around 9:00 Am (recall new security rules that say you have to board 30 minutes before) and I still have to check-in. The helpful Northwest agent calls up to the gate, gets me ushered into a “special” security checkpoint, I run for the gate and I make the plane! Whew! I have never in 21 years of flying ever done this. I have always been 1-2 hours early. After all this, the talk should be a piece of cake-)
