For those who dont know, the Isle of Wight is a small island off Southampton. Its a beautiful spot and most famous for Cowes Week.
Well Lucid Ocean has just completed a beta of the IOW Search, which indexes local sites.
At the moment its quite small, there are still hundreds of sites to be added and more pages to index, but its up. I have found so many new businesses and websites, that I never knew existed from this search, so I hope it will prove to be a valuable thing for islanders. The intention is to grow it up into a proper IOW resource.
Since it is so central to the Isle of Wight, many of my international readers may not be interested (which is about 90% of you). but to those on the island and in the south of england, please give it a go and support it.
All future proceeds of the project (-expenses) will be going back into the community. More details of that will be posted on the site.
I am also hoping that it will give another incentive to businesses to improve their IT and website offerings - being that little bit more in the limelight.
