The 2nd half charge the A's need to propel them to their 4th consecitive playoff appearence started off with a whimper. The Twinkies completed a 4 game sweep over the A's. Shannon Stewart (who the A's should have locked up), instead went 4-4 in Game #4. The A's are batting a major league low .226, with only 51 total runs in their past 16 games. Without Stewart (and no other marquee power-hitting OF propsects), the A's are going to have to count on Chavez & Tejada coming out of season-long slumps - plus Dye coming of the DL and producing at better than his .180 clip.
Supoer-phenom prospect Rich Harden will get his 1st ML start today against KC, but regardless of how well he does, it will be the offense that defines whether the A's can turn this around and get back into the playoff hunt.
