I understand that everyone is finally happy that Hotmail decided to up free storage space to 250MB (1G for paid users), but now they've taken away the ability for me to download my messages via SMTP (yet another paid service).
I'd much rather go back to 2MB of space and keep my SMTP capabilities - they're more valuable to me. It's a real PITA to have to use their web client to view messages (specifically, no offline viewing). Heck, I'd even say OK to calling it a Hotmail CAL when you buy Outlook - just give me back my free SMTP downloads.
Now, I understand what they're trying to do. They hooked you with a Hotmail account, then had you bind it to Passport, and now you've got it linked to a myriad of site registrations (like MSDN Universal). Now, you need to start paying just to get back to where you were before. And the dang thing is just too hard to go out and replace!
But, they're still not getting any money out of me. My Hotmail will just have to be read on a weekly basis. Sorry folks.
