Thanks to everybody for your participation in the session yesterday in Dublin. Nick Grattan from SoftwarePaths delivered a great speech on CLR and SQL Server 2005.

I hope that this will encourage participants to try what they learned. I myself really now want to try my hand at this new approach to program SQL Server. Nick demonstrated that even CLR can help in some complex scenarios, T-SQL will still be a major component in SQL Server 2005.

I am not sure what scenario I can use for UDTs (User Defined Types) but it's really cool to define any kind of datatypes. My first attempt I think will be to play with the Datasets and see if I can get all the data management back to SQL Server.

So you will find very soon (I hope before the end of the week) all the materials (slides - demos) plus the audio recording from yesterday on Developers.ie exclusively for our members.

Some pictures now (click on the thumbnail to see the big version):

As you can see the room was packed
and the audience was very attentive

If you want to explore everything about SQL 2005 I recommend this book

by Bob Beauchemin, Niels Berglund, Dan Sullivan
