As mentioned, I am going to the full VSTS/TFS for the first time. I mentioned that I had gotten the computer back up again, with Media Center 2005 instead of my Toshiba notebook's native XP Media Center (2004). Since then, I have made a lot of progress in between working this weekend and family stuff. I first got Win2K3 dual booted. Then I tried to use Paul Murph's original instructions in his Part 1 and especially his Part 2, in setting up Win2K3 as a Domain Controller. I was unable to get that working with a static IP address. I then used his valuable pointer to this step by step guide to get it set up. So now I have a Domain Controller with Active Directory! I feel like a freaking admin. Next, is populating a few users in AD, and then finally, hopefully, Yukon and Team Foundation Server!!
Ok, I have Yukon installed and the whole TFS Data Tier done. Phew! Now, the Application Tier. It's not clear to me whether the App Tier can go on this same box or if I will have to do a VPC image for it, and then struggle to get it into the domain. You have got to be kidding me: the install for Virtual PC says not supported on Win2k3! I guess I have to get Virtual PC Server. This is way too many steps for this....
