I've been having a heck of a time getting my OS X box to connect to a Windows Server 2003 Active Directory share. Turns out, there's some extra steps you might need to take to make this work.
1. Install the UAM for OS X
The Microsoft User Authentication Module gives NTLMv2 password capabilities to OS X. You can download that here.
2. Disable security signatures on the Windows Server 2003 box
Change the value for "RequireSecuritySignature" to 0. Reboot not required. Apparently this registry change may also be necessary for other non-Windows clients like Linux.
