I've been doing a lot of developer interviews lately. Many of the developers
are MCSD.NET certified, which includes a mandatory test on the Microsoft Solution
Framework.
It suddenly struck me during one of the interviews...does anyone really USE the
MSF? I've used RUP, XP, SCRUM and custom methodologies...but never MSF.
Every developer that I've interviewed is in the same boat...they understand it (because
they have to) but have never applied it in the real world.
The reason I ask is because with VS2005, the MSF is rolled into TeamSystem.
There's a standard MSF and an agile MSF approach that you can use. Is there
really much use in it?
Does anyone find value in the MSF? Even Microsoft is using SCRUM now...so if
there's no value, why is it still around, and why isn't there more push back from
the industry as a whole to drop it??
