At the last Ottawa Carleton Smalltalk Users Group meeting on Wednesday night, we planned to teach Smalltalk to the people who didn't know it, then use Smalltalk to solve some puzzles. As it turns out, we spent longer teaching Smalltalk than we had planned but nobody seemed to mind. We had two people (Python users) who attended and a bunch of Smalltalkers. The demo of Smalltalk took about an hour.
After the hour, we decided to take the puzzles to the local pub and try solving them there. As it turns out, the discussions about Smalltalk were more interesting than solving the puzzles, so we didn't get around to the puzzle part. If we were to solve the puzzles, it would have taken us at least an hour.
So, we didn't solve puzzles but we still had a good lively discussion and were able to teach the Python developers a bit about Smalltalk at the same time.
