Yesterday I started at Cincom. I flew to Sydney and back to Canberra in the evening. My luck with travel is approaching legendary, so I thought I'd update you on my latest trip.
The trip there went pretty well, but I had to wait for 30 minutes for a taxi. Apparently there was some backlog that morning.. special.
The flight home, on the other hand, was odd. My flight was cancelled - because of crew illness!. I got on the next flight and all was well from there. I was impressed with QantasLink. They actually contacted me on my mobile phone to alert me that it had happened and to organise another flight for me.
Kudos to Qantas on that - the more they embrace the connected society the better service will get. Now can you explain to me why we need a service on a flight that lasts 30 minutes? .. it took me 20 minutes to drive to work when I worked at Wizard - did I need a service in my car? no. Weird.
It seems that Riotact noticed my post about the Qantas Club providing free wifi. Let me reassure the disbelievers - this was real. Mind you, it did drop out twice while I was waiting for my flight. What is it with wifi quality in public places?
On to the future. On Saturday I'm flying out of Australia to go to Smalltalk Solutions. I'll see all of those who are going there. You can come up and bug me about anything you want to do with VisualWorks. I'm all ears.
This Wednesday (tomorrow) is Anzac day here in Australia, a time to remember.
