I needed to make a virtual disk, with boot partition, larger.  I found that I could use the VM Ware Server utility, vmware-vdiskmanager.exe, to expand the disk: C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Server>vmware-vdiskmanager.exe -x 20Gb “<path>\<name>.vmdk” Next I needed to extent the partition.  There was only one partition, the boot partition, and that meant that I could not be booted [...]
