Today I went shopping for a backpack that could carry my 17" macbook pro and my toshiba at the same time. My current backpack couldn't fit the macbook pro - by the barest of squeezes.

I ended up in Myer, a big chain here in Australia. They had the kind of bag I was looking for - but would the 17" mac fit? I took it to the computer section and there they had a 17" - the guy there volunteered to unlock the mac. He went and got the keys, unlocked it, and we proceeded to pack it in the unpaid for bag.

Here's the thing - once it fitted, I asked if I could try it on.. which I did, zipped up, on my back. i could have just bolted. The only "security" measure in place was that the mac didn't have a battery in it. Like a battery is the expensive part.

Luckily I'm not a thief - but can you just imagine it? Such a simple scam and the poor salesman would have copped it big time.

Ironically, if he hadn't helped me like that - I wouldn't have bought it. So now I have a new backpack that I know will fit my macbook pro 17"
