Chris Petrilli notes that we never, ever have enough storage: just when we think it's enough, something new stumbles along to fill it:
For many years, the demands on storage have been sky-rocketing. As just an example, when I bought my first iPod (4GB), I thought that I’d never fill it, and yet now with a 60GB iPod, I can’t hold my entire music collection, much less an entire season of Heroes, a few movies, and other things I want to carry around with me. With the rise of digital SLRs, a single photo from my camera is 5-8MB. This has increased the demand for storage more than can be imagined a few years ago.
My progression has been much the same, although I can date myself by pointing out that when I bought the second 40 MB (yes, MB!) drive for my first 386 based PC, I recall thinking that I'd never fill that up. I save log archives that are bigger now...
