Chris Petrilli summarizes an interesting post by John Siracusa, which explains the difference between usability and enterprisey:
Most companies do not even consider the actual user to be in any way related to the person buying the computer. In fact, nearly all of the laundry-list of “enterprisey features” that Apple doesn’t have are not some inability of Apple to deliver, but a conscious choice to not provide features that users don’t want.
Update: For the ultimate in enterprisey views, take a look at Rob Enderle's post on Apple and MS - this is possibly the stupidest thing I've seen written in years:
Imagine what would result if a new Apple OS was based on the new Windows kernel rather than on Unix. It would be much more acceptable to a broad cross section of companies that wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole today.
Now, I should go a little easy on Enderle - he came out of Gartner, where stupidity is richly rewarded.
