Finding yourself Lost, perhaps you ought to get Loster

This was one of the quotes (or close at least), from the first Keynote which was presented by Peter Turchi, one of Dick Gabriel's poetry/writing colleagues. Peter gave a well formulated talk. It was well prepared, and well presented. The jst of the talk circled around a theme that both writers and software people deal with: how to find inspiration for creativity.

He spoke of how we find creativity best when we are an adventure. And how we have adventures when we are lost. Many anecdotes and and quotes on the value of getting lost. On how getting lost, can actually take planning. This theme that you need to lose yourself away from your normal comforts if you want to find creativity, was a reccurrent theme throughout the talk, but also I've noted it throughout the conference on a larger scale.

He also spoke at lenght of maps, and how we build models of the world around us. And by demonstrating a number of different kinds of maps, kinds I'd never seen before, such as population distorted maps, the upside down map, or strip maps, he sought to illustrate this notion that as we step outside the norm, we find inspiration.

The talk ended with Peter imploring us to "get lost."
