I gave another presentation this last Saturday. One of the feedbacks I took from the previous presentation, was that some sort of one page handout would have been nice as we talked about syntax. So I looked around on the web and looked and looked. I couldn't find such a thing. I found some pages that do this, especially ones that bridge from one language syntax to another. The closest thing I found was a demonstration of a method that has every syntax element on a postcard.
That's pretty cool, but not exactly illustrative. So I sat down and endeavoured to write one. I did so by basically copying the Wikipedia section on Smalltalk syntax into Pages and then reducing, reducing, reducing, till it fit on one page. So here's my attempt at a One Page Smalltalk Syntax Primer. It's nothing I'm overly proud of. It's a first draft and I could see lots of radical changes that I might make to it. But it's something. Which is more than there was before.
