Here's a question for the great minds at Hasbro and Mattel: Is the Scrabble game (Scrabulous) on Facebook exposing more people to Scrabble - and thus creating more potential buyers of the boardgame - or is it a trademark problem? If you're stuck in 1970's era thinking, it's a problem, and Scrabulous needs to be squashed.
If, on the other hand, you aren't stupid, and want to sell more product - you quietly ask Facebook to set up some kind of joint marketing thing, whereby every launch of the application has a Scrabble "Buy the game for family fun!" link next to it.
Which path Hasbro and Mattel are taking is sadly obvious; they just aren't bright enough to recognize a business opportunity when they see one.
