Amazon announced a purchase that makes a lot of sense: Audible. Between books, music, and digital versions of those things, Amazon is getting to be a one stop shop for content. Add the Kindle - and I expect 2nd and 3rd generation revisions to be better - and you really have something:
If you couple Audible with Amazonâs march into DRM-free music distribution the e-commerce giant is building quite a content arsenal. Obviously, Amazonâs Kindle (all resources) is going to be one key way this content is distributed. When Amazon reported earnings last night it noted that it was scrambling to keep up with Kindle demand.
Contrast that sensible buy with Sun's inexplicable purchase of MySQL. On the one hand, you have integration that makes a lot of sense at a reasonable price. On the other, you have a strange purchase at a wildly inflated price. Makes me wonder what a guy like Bezos would do with Sun....
