Scoble (and lots of other people, apparently) are all agog over a bunch of Microsoft demos at the Mix conference yesterday:
While Dean Hachamovitch, head of the Internet Explorer team, and Scott Guthrie, head of Internet development tools teams, were out front parading a dizzying array of new technology, I got a few interviews today and one name kept coming up: Ray Ozzie.
Umm, yeah - this is the same Ray Ozzie who thinks that spending $44B on Yahoo is a good idea. I'll tell you what, Robert - on one side of the ledger put all the "cool stuff" you saw yesterday. On the other, put all the knife fighting I talked about yesterday.
If Microsoft turns a corner, it will be because they got lucky enough to have the astoundingly stupid idea of buying Yahoo not work out. If that deal goes through, on the other hand - none of this cool stuff will matter, because it'll be internal war for years.
