Looks like Smalltalk and Seaside are viewed as a safe choice for new development - I ran across this a few minutes ago:

I've been using Squeak and Seaside to build the site for my new business venture. I've been at it for a few weeks and things are coming along nicely. I've got a shell of a site built with partial functionality - no persistence yet, no cursored collections for search results, not sure what to do on checkout yet, no image manipulation yet, etc. I'm pretty happy with the progress I've made so far and can't wait to show my partners. Tonight we have a conference call.

One of the cool things about Seaside is the choices it offers developers - want an open source solution? Try Squeak. Want to have commercial support and good relational database integration? There's Cincom Smalltalk. Want OODB integration? There's Gemstone. It's not like the old days, where every Smalltalk was an island unto itself - and you can download each of them to try them out.
