This has got to be the stupidest idea I've seen the FSF run with (and they do stupid pretty frequently):
You can use Apple's helpful online booking system (no registration required) to reserve time slots at the Genius Bar. There are currently 217 Apple stores in seven countries, giving us plenty of slots to book. We want as many people as possible to book slots this Friday and Saturday. Why not book more than one? Having lots of slots booked will get Apple's attention and ensure that the Geniuses have done their homework.
The object of their discontent at the moment is the iPhone, and the various lockdowns that Apple and ATT have put on it. Sure, those sound annoying - but here's the thing: last time I looked, you don't have to buy one. Heck, they even have their own open phone initiative - maybe they could spend all this energy on adding functionality to that.
You know, if the freetards at the FSF had pulled this stunt last March, I might not have gotten my MacBook fixed in time to run my session at SPA 2008. So which customers of Apple - who really don't care about any of the issues the FSF is yammering about - won't get their Macs fixed this weekend, because a bunch of morons with too much free time on their hands have decided to be complete jerks? Do you think the guy with a broken Mac, stuck in line behind a bunch of whiny advocates, is going to become more or less sympathetic when he can't get the repair he wants?
So here's my question for the swell folks "helping" with this campaign - just who the heck do you think you're helping? Certainly not anyone who heads to the Apple store with a real problem that needs to be solved. Next time you want to "help" - just don't.
