This week we discussed two listener emails:

I am fairly new to both Smalltalk and VisualWorks and one of the most confusing aspects for me is, when should I use:

namespaces
packages
bundles
class category
parcels

I think it would be very valuable if you could have a podcast which could shed some light on the best practices for using these mechanisms. I also read in the VW programmers guide that the use of namespaces is discouraged because there is a new module system.

Are parcels just a runtime deployment artifact for packages? What's the relationship between the category defined on a class, namespace and package?

And another one on Seaside scaling. We'll probably get more into depth on that topic after Michael runs some of the tests he mentioned on the podcast.

If you have feedback, send it to smalltalkpodcasts@cincom.com - or visit us on Facebook or Ning - you can vote for the Podcast Alley, and subscribe on iTunes. If you enjoy the podcast, pass the word - we would love to have more people hear about Smalltalk!
