Georg Heeg gave a fascinating talk at Smalltalk Solutions 2008 on an unexpected topic: finding the Bach house in Koethen. It's known that Bach resided there for a couple of years, but the specific place he lived had been lost with the passage of time. Historians had never been able to pin down the location, so Georg and his staff came to the rescue with Smalltalk and Seaside - and their algorithmic approach, of course :)
