I see that Tim Berners-Lee is worried about the way rumors and lies spread on the internet:

The internet needs a way to help people separate rumour from real science, says the creator of the World Wide Web.
Talking to BBC News Sir Tim Berners-Lee said he was increasingly worried about the way the web has been used to spread disinformation.

With all due respect to him, perhaps he should wander by a newsstand, take a gander at the tabloids there, and then ask himself exactly how much the web really differs from what came before it. The idea he's backing to help is so naive that it makes me wonder how much he gets out:

Sir Tim was speaking in advance of an announcement about a Foundation he has helped create that will vet websites.

Geat idea, that. When he figures out a way to get people to agree on what qualifies as reliable information, he should let us know.
