Ive been hearing a lot about Yammer, and now I see that Phil Windley is posting some actual experience with it:
I sent out invites and soon had the whole Kynetx gang yammering away about work. Only people within your domain (i.e. those with emails you control) can see what the others are saying. Yammer has a Adobe Air client that makes keeping up with what folks are saying easy (you can also use the Web).
We use an internal IRC channel on the Smalltalk team (or, I should say, about 80% of the team does). That's the thing I wonder about with these tools: whether it's Yammer, IRC, IM - what have you - how do you get the entire team involved? There are some people who just don't like having these kinds of distractions during the day, and I'm not sure it's the wrong answer (at least for them). I'd love to know what people think about this.
