I have a fair bit of sympathy for Facebook with respect to their new design. Personally I like it; I post things to a large number of groups fequently, and I find the tabbed interface along the bottom makes that simpler. On the other hand - as this group and this ComputerWorld story demonstrates - not everyone is a fan:
A Facebook group of those opposed to the site's new design is nearing 2.7 million supporters, and the leaders are organizing a two-day boycott to make their point.
My sympathy originates from simple reality: Facebook is big enough that any UI change will irritate a not insignificant proportion of their users. Any product or service that gets as popular as Facebook has finds this problem: the inertia from the huge "installed base" makes any change hard.
