I love the way the bogus report of Jobs having a heart attack is being hailed as a failure of citizen journalism. True, it appeared on CNN's iReport site, which is all about non-professional reporting. However, why is it that I - and other reputable people - linked to the report?

Because it was under the CNN banner, which gave it a higher level of credibility. I spent a good twenty minutes wondering whether or not to post the link at all - I checked MSNBC, Fox News, and Drudge (noting that such huge news would hit Drudge quickly). Ultimately, the reason it got posted (and tweeted) was the CNN name. I'd say it was a failure alright, but there's blame enough to go around.
