Dare Obasanjo notes that his (along with nearly everyone else) retirement funds are in submarine mode; I just belatedly moved a bunch of things into cash (I know, barn doors and all that). Still, I don't think we're near the bottom - the real fun starts in a few years when social security stops adding money to the general fund and starts pulling it out - so in the grand scheme of things, maybe a move to cash now is early :/.
