I think this is what you call bad luck: the external drive on which I keep my iTunes and iPhoto collection just dropped dead. Sadly, I hadn't set up Time Machine to look at that drive. That was a mistake, but I had a backup of the stuff that was only a couple of months old on a small USB drive. And... I tried hooking that drive up, and it was dead.

What are the odds on two USB drives dropping dead at the same time? Now I'm left with the expensive and annoying data recovery track. Joy.
