It looks like Microsoft has taken a solid second in the console space (to Nintendo), and pretty much owns the "hardcore" space. Sales were up overall in October (an otherwise horrible retail month) - but down for Sony. PCWorld has the details, but here are the monthly sales for the main console systems:
			- Nintendo Wii: 803k (+14%)
- XBox 360: 371k (+6%)
- PS3: 190k (-18%)
- PS2: 136k (-22%)
I think it's significant that Sony seems to be largely competing with themselves, as Nintendo and Microsoft run away with the space. The amazing number is the one for the Wii - now that Nintendo has finally figured out how to supply units, they're just rolling off the store floor. Game play and unit price make a big difference.
