The machinations of the tv producers and their employees (writers, actors, etc) are starting to look more and more like the end game of Eastern Airlines: both sides think the other is full of crap, and no one is willing to give an inch. The strike authorization ballots will go out to SAG's paid-up members, anywhere from 100,000 to 110,000 of the 120,000, on January 2nd. The votes will be tabulated on January 23rd and the results announced the same day.
There's already talk of cutting prime time back, due to the changes in the ad supported business model. Another strike - after last year's writer's strike - will only accelerate the trend. I suspect that another round of "reality TV" is on the horizon...
