Looks like the Yankees are signing Teixeira - which is great news if it means that they don't need Manny Ramirez:
The Yankees have reached an agreement in principle to sign Mark Teixeira, SI.com has learned, beating out the rival Red Sox for the free-agent slugger's services.
I realize that they shored up the pitching staff with Sabathia and Burnett (and the one year deal with Wang), but I think they would have been better off spending the money they put into Teixeira into a few young pitchers. Still, it's better than getting Ramirez. Yes, he's talented - but he's also got an ego that the Yankees don't need. I really, really don't want a return to the 70's "Bronx Zoo" era...
