That's the thinking from some analysts, according to ComputerWorld. I'll ask the same question I asked about Sun's idiotic $1B purchase of MySQL in the first place: why not just make ridiculous salary offers to the top tier of MySQL developers and suck them in? MySQL is open source already, and if you own the talent, you effectively own the product (regardless of who owns the actual IP). With the talent in place, it seems to me that you could easily get control of most of the enterprise support contracts.
What am I missing?
