It seems that Adam Savage of MythBusters fame is unhappy with AT&T's data roaming charges:
The source of the recent flurry of AT&T tweets is Adam Savage of MythBusters fame, who tweets that for "a few hours of web surfing in Canada" he was charged a whopping $11,000. AT&T is apparently claiming that Savage managed to download 9 gigabytes in Canada using his USB data connection (which he calls "frakking impossible"
I have no idea how much he downloaded, but I don't think it's all that hard to download 9 GB of data. Use streaming audio and video for a little while, ponder Google maps for some directions... it adds up. I'd say the main take away of this is simple: if you plan to use data roaming, buy a plan up front, and then be very, very careful not to go over the limits you paid for.
None of this excuses AT&T; at the very least they should default to turning your b/w off when you hit a cap - just like a gas station does when you pre-pay for gas. That would make it pretty obvious to all concerned what's going to happen next :)
