Sometimes the oddest things pop in to your head. Like me, right now. All of a sudden I was thinking of the Back to the Future 3 music and I realized there was a plot hole in the movie.

Doc in the flying delorian gets struck by lightning which sends him back to the wild west. His car, broken from the lightning, he buried in a cave to be found by Marty in 1955. Marty, in 1955, then travels back to the wild west and pierces the fuel tank, leaking modern petrol.

Doc loses his marbles pointing out to Marty that there's no petrol stations nearby, because it's the wild west. They then devise a complicated plan to push the delorian by train to get it to 88mph.

This is where I realized there was a massive plot hole in the story. There are two delorians sitting here in the past now. One has no gas - the other has plenty of gas. All they had to do was patch the fuel tank hole that the indian arrow made and go fetch the gas from the first delorian to fuel the second delorian.

End of movie. Granted, not as spectacular, but hey, it's an easier way to get Marty back to the future.
