I think today might represent the start of a downhill slide for Twitter - and further on down the road, recognition that they should have taken the money from Facebook. Why? Because Facebook just bought Friendfeed, which will expand the user base of that service greatly:
Facebook today announced that it has agreed to acquire FriendFeed, the innovative service for sharing online. As part of the agreement, all FriendFeed employees will join Facebook and FriendFeed's four founders will hold senior roles on Facebook's engineering and product teams.
Until this, I thought Friendfeed was an also-ran doomed to slowly die off - the service has more features than Twitter, but simply isn't used as widely. That just changed in a huge way. I think the Twitter guys are going to end up wishing they'd taken the deal when they had the chance.
