Microsoft has had a jury verdict overturned by a judge who made an interesting determination about the jury:
A U.S. District Judge gave Microsoft a break Tuesday, essentially ruling that the jury that heard a patent infringement case against it was clueless. He then overturned its record $388 million verdict against the company.
I'm with Coursey on this one. While I'm not sure I want to go down the route of non-jury trials in general, it does seem to be the case that highly technical cases are very susceptible to the "baffle them with BS" offensive. The better solution in this area, IMHO: get rid of software patents, period.
