Spotted in Engadget:

At this point, there's little doubtthat Barnes & Noble will soon be joining the e-reader game. We've heard whispersthrough the grapevine, seen FCC documentation and now, renders of what the thing might actually look like. With October 20th rapidly approaching, Gizmodo has secured images that it claims are of the forthcoming device -- and the design certainly jibes with recent happenings.

Looks like Amazon, and distant second Sony won't be the sole players in this space much longer. It'll be interesting to see what Barnes and Noble does - and even more interesting to see whether Apple decides that this is a piece of the consumer market they need to get into. With the success of the iPod/iPhone/Touch, and the existing iTunes store, anything they do could jump them past even Amazon.

We'll see what happens - I know my wife has expressed a great desire for a nice device, and she's not interested in the Kindle. Battery life isn't so much of an issue for her; she'd mostly use it at home, in order to stop weighing down the headboard of the bed with physical books :)
