It's not often that a managerial move has a dramatic impact on a game, but Girardi just blew game three for the Yankees. Angels are up, 2 men out, David Robertson on the mound. He's been pitching well, so what does Girardi do? Yanks him for Alceves, based on no real history between Alceves and the batter, or Robertson and the batter - and keep in mind that there are two outs, and this leaves only Gaudin in the pen. Had the game gone on longer, Girardi would have been painted into a corner.

Not that this turned out to be a problem. Kendrick - the guy Alceves came in to face - singles. Mathis then comes up and smashes a double, which scores Kendrick, ending the game. What the heck was Girardi smoking in the dugout? What would he have done if the game had really gone long?
