Ever since the upgrade to Snow Leopard, I've been having intermittant UI freezes. I finally narrowed it down to one thing: Time Machine. I've seen reports of ther people getting this as well, but I can't find the links right now. Anyway:
This made for an annoying workday, so I downloaded Time Machine Editor to set the backup interval to something more sane, like every 4 hours. Here's where things got weird:
- Backups still happened hourly
- I was still getting freezes
- I turned Time Machine off, figuring I'd enable it at night
- Now it went to a four hour schedule
I'm not seeing lockups either. So Time Machine is "off", but actually running on the schedule I set it, and it's not locking up anymore. Bizarre. Maybe like Windows, I need to reboot...
