Feed Description: A cross between a blog and wiki of my partly-formed ideas on software development
Like many people in the tech industry, I’ve been following the wikileaks saga. My feelings about it are complicated, and not terribly well thought out (which is why I haven’t written anything about it). I have had some great discussions with my colleagues in ThoughtWorks, particularly our CTO Rebecca Parsons.
Whatever you think of the rights and wrongs of Wikileaks, the reaction to Wikileaks raises some important questions about freedom on the internet and evolving role of journalism in a free society.
Part of our concern about this is a feeling that the tech community has been too quiet about these questions, so we’ve been involved in organizing a webcast to engage in a thoughtful discussion. Rebecca will be on the panel, joined by Tim Bray (who wrote an excellent piece on this) and Marc Rotenberg. The webcast is on Wednesday Dec 8 at 8.15pm EST.
