I am interested in proposing a network infrastructure technology for my company. My preferred choice would be Jini. However, being a Java-dependant technology, I anticipate some resistance, particularly on the question of how to bring C and C++ applications into the Jini network as clients. An alternative, or perhaps complementary, technology might be JXTA. What are the arguments for Jini? for JXTA? for using them in combination?

Also, what is the outlook for either of these technologies? It seems obvious that neither is taking the world by storm, but I've seen articles proclaiming the death of each of them or that each is still in its infancy and will eventually be the next big thing. What's the truth?
