I will be converting a large ForTran program to either Java or C++.

I've never done a conversion from procedural-based code to OO code, I've only designed OO (using UML) from the ground up. Is there info out there about how to do this? e.g. do I start with use cases or skip that and start with class diagrams...

why do you want to do that, when there are better ways to do this.
I mean is this a mission critical app?
