Q1.what is the diffrence between Lightweight & Heavyweight Objects ?

viswagb:
In terms of Java GUI objects

Lightweight Objects are drawn/painted onto a blank window
No peer classes are required.
example : SWING objrcts are lightweight objects

Heavyweight Objects have a peer counterpart in the platform's OS.
example AWT objects are eavyweight Objects

Q2.What are the ways we can design a LightWeight
Object.

viswagb: use o/s independent object creation.

Hi,
In while creating GUI using Applets and Swings the lightweight and heavy weight topic comes in picture here applets uses the C and C++ code this is known as Machine specific code so it is known as haevy weight components and in if u use swing it is tottaly written in java it will now use any machine specific code so what it is known as light weight component

I read once that Lightweight objects have transparent backgrounds and Heavyweight objects have opaque backgrounds.
