First you need to ask yourself some questions. Such as:

What do you want to do?

What do you want to be doing 3 years from now?

If I want to look for interesting nuggets of information in vast quantities of text files, log files perhaps, I might use perl.

If I want to write simple programs quickly and easily, Python is great. I'd use it for a small or medium project, maybe up to 6 man months or so, but less keen on a large, serious system.

Excel is superb for certain kinds of problem.

Sometimes the best answer is "use assembler"!

So how do you answer my questions?

I too agree.
The most important thing you need to understand is why you need to learn programming.
If you want create desktop applications try VB or VC if u r patient enough.
But always it will be better to start with plain c,c++ or java or a scripting language like python.
And if you r an engineering student may be u need to concentrate on algorithms as well.
You will get all the required books from many sites online like

2 years ago I have suggested to be trained on courses of programming in company BelHard. But I don't know, whether I wish to be the programmer in the future. I wish to make the program, for the account of my incomes and charges. Whether it is necessary for me to go on these courses of programming? Or it is better to me to find the similar program and to buy?
